I have always been obsessed with owls, hawks, and falcons. We have several who live in the field behind our home. I am always on the look-out for them.

I always felt that seeing different kinds of birds in nature also meant something.

Hawks to me are known for their impeccable vision and how they go for what they want.

Especially after seeing the falcon at Medieval Times last year, I became more obsessed with birds of prey. When you see them perform, you can tell while they are trained, they will still kick your a**!

So what is falconry?

Falconry can be defined as the taking of wild quarry in its natural state and habitat by means of a trained raptor. This ancient art is a very demanding endeavor, requiring a serious dedication of time and energy from the falconer. On November 16, 2010 the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) added falconry to its list of Intangible Cultural Heritages of Humanity.
