Yard Sales, Tik Tok and More: It Was Great Until Everyone Ruined It
Garage sales are popping up in my neck of the woods. And with it- high prices.
I stopped at one and items I had seen at Target on clearance, were on the tables, at the same price as Target.
What is going on? When did garage sales become resale events? If I can go to Target or Walmart and get the same item, why would I buy it at a garage sale?
In the good old days, one could go to a garage sale and actually find gems. It was easier to find authentic antiques and unique items. Now, most sales are mass-produced, over-priced junk. The only places I have seen unique antique/vintage items are antique stores and estate sales.
What else has gotten ruined?
EBAY
Years ago, I was able to sell baby clothes and toys and make a little money. It was an easy way to declutter my home. Now? Ebay is overrun with junk and resellers. Whether it is Starbucks cups, Target merch and more, greedy resellers are ruining eBay for everyone. Target especially needs to put in place buying limits. One example was the Target shopping cart from last year. It was impossible to find in stores. It took me 5 months to even find one.
