The Holiday Wishlists From Adults Has Gotten Out of Control
I Am Tired of Getting Wishlists From Adults
I have another holiday gripe. And I wonder if I am the only one going through this. My family loves to exchange gift wish lists from adults. I have gotten all kinds of weird lists over the years.
Right now, no one has sent a list or brought it up. Yet. So I am literally tip-toeing around the issue and hope and pray no one sends one. And worse than sending one too early, are those relatives who send one too late. Like 7 days to Christmas too late. By then, online shopping is not always an option and all the good deals are gone.
In my family growing up, the adults never exchanged wishlists. The kids would write letters to Santa, but the adults were not brazen enough to request things.
The most the adults would get were Hickory Farms kits, cheap boxes of chocolate, and sometimes crafts of hand-knit scarves and sweaters. They were not exchanging big gifts.
But my in-laws have an entirely different dynamic when it comes to holiday gifts. The holiday gifting was never even about the kids from the jump. It was about the adults getting gifts too. And higher-priced ones sometimes.
