The Disappearing Essential Workers

It’s happening right now, whether you accept it or not.

If Ohio is a mirror of future events to come in the United States, I can tell you what is going to happen.

We have the 2nd highest level of Covid deaths in the United States. Over 20,000/Covid cases A DAY, and it’s starting to affect the rest of society.

Who are these essential workers that are disappearing? The people we take for granted every single day:

  • cashiers in your grocery store
  • postal workers
  • nurses
  • doctors
  • teachers
  • fuel delivery to your local gas station
  • bus drivers
  • servers and cooks in restaurants
  • garbage collectors
  • car mechanics
  • Amazon delivery drivers
  • UPS, Fed Ex
  • maintenance workers
  • Instacart, Doordash, Uber
  • pilots and support staff
  • retail workers
  • fast-food workers
  • truck drivers who deliver the products TO the grocery store
  • I could go on and on

Restaurants, fast food, and stores in my area are limiting their hours or closing. Shelves are growing empty. But people are still head in the sand, lalalalala, this is not happening.

I recently wrote about cognitive dissonance infecting my community. People don’t want to face what is happening and instead lash out at essential workers.

Check out this book on behind the scenes of how essential workers are handling the pandemic.
