Snap Judgments: Navigating Mean Moms and Social Media
We all need a tribe right? Whether it’s in person or online there are a lot of lonely people in today’s world- especially moms.
There is not a lot of time to make friends when the needs of children, spouse, and house are in constant demand.
Back In The Day…
When my son was younger, 20 years ago, Cafemom and Babycenter were the most popular mom sites. Does anyone remember these sites? They were the grandmothers of the current social media sites.
I was on both sites and kept my name and identity very anonymous. because I knew the golden rule- what is put online can be traced back to you almost 100% of the time. Nothing is truly anonymous online.
The story I am about to share with you will resonate with a lot of moms.
Michelle and The Facebook Group
Here’s how it happened to my friend Michelle*. I am telling this with her permission because she wanted to help other moms. She fell for some toxic friends and scams online and wants to warn others.
Seven years ago, Michelle was a new mom. She had just moved to her current town and was looking for new friends online. She had a newborn son at home and wasn’t able to get out of much.
