One Of Your Favorite Ways Of Saving Money is Starting to Disappear

I love to visit restaurants. But for the past two years, I haven't gone out that much. At first, it was because of Covid and now it’s turning more into, I can’t afford it. When we have gone out a few times, the server was usually very overwhelmed and busy, the food was not cooked right or something else was wrong.

It was not the dining experience from pre-pandemic. A month ago we went out to Longhorn Steakhouse. We hadn’t been to a restaurant in 6 months. When we got the bill, this was at a mid-priced steakhouse, it was $100 for three people! And none of us got steaks!

It’s like when I was a kid and my parents couldn’t afford restaurants. My Italian/Ukrainian father would make stuffed cabbage and homemade pizza. On my mom’s side, my grandmother cooked all their meals and did not have food delivery as they lived up on a mountain. And they were Depression era and did not want to spend money on pizza.

These days, I use reward cards to save money at restaurants and stores. Yes, they track your activity and yes, that is creepy regarding consumer privacy. But sometimes saving money, especially in this economy, overrides that.

Reward programs like the local grocery store, Target, Walmart, etc. have helped my budget a lot. But now, companies are pulling back on…
