Nostalgic Reflections: Everything I Miss From The Charming 1990's

I’ve been reminiscing lately about wanting to time-travel back to the 1990’s. Life, at the time, seemed so complicated. Looking back, it was much easier than the 2020's.

Here’s what I miss about the 90s:

Being Able to Have Fun Without It Posted On Social Media

When I was in high school and college in the 1990s and we didn’t have much tech. We had the Internet but social media and cell phones were a ways off.

So when we wanted to go out with friends, there were no easy-to-use devices to record our antics. Sure we had disposable cameras, but then they had to be dropped off at the store and wait days for the photos to be developed.

Gen X and some older Millennials had the advantage of being silly youth, without evidence all over social media.

For example, the time my friend Cary and I crossed a dangerous abandoned bridge over a river. Guess what, no evidence! Or the time we got Zima wine coolers underage and had a party in the dorm. Once again, no evidence! There were more opportunities to do dumb stuff and not get caught. Or put it on blast.

Now Gen Z puts it out there on TikTok, on purpose! I can’t understand or relate.

Making Friends at the Local Coffee Shop, Gym, etc.

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this but making friends was easier back in the 1990’s. Of course, when one is in school, being around peers does make connecting easier.

But now with the addiction and reliance on social media, making friends, even for younger people is harder than it used to be.
