My Grandfather Did Not Fight The Nazis In WWII For This
WTF Has Happened To Our Country
I took all day yesterday to try and think of the right words to express my grief and outrage at the election.
And I decided instead, to tell a story.
I believe in doing the right thing, even if it is hard. And my grandfather taught me that. I believe in standing up for other’s rights and living in a FAIR AND JUST America.
My Grandfather
Aaron was a WWII veteran. For his entire life, he would not talk about the war. He passed away in 2007. I am honored to be able to tell his story now.
Back in 2004, my mom and I were visiting him and he was sitting quietly in his favorite chair. His 87th birthday had just come and gone. He had lost his wife the year prior.
They had the most amazing love story. They lived in the same farming community and that’s how they met. My grandfather was shipped off to Iwo Jima. But he managed to come back on Christmas Eve in 1943 to marry his true love. They went on to have three children and three grandchildren.
If it wasn’t for him, if it wasn’t for his bravery and love for my grandmother, I would not be here and neither would my son.
