We Are On Thin Ice- Literally

I grew up in the country. There are 2 things you don’t do- walk on the pond in the winter and swim in the pond in the summer.

Both can lead to catastrophe.

Even up on the hill, the ice on the pond never froze over enough to be safe enough to ice skate or walk on it.

During the summer, the pond was filled with muck and mud and could pull you under very quickly.

These are the things you learn about living in the country. I spent half my life in the country, the other half in the city.

So when I saw this news story, that 18 people were rescued off Lake Erie, out of Ohio no less, I was like what?

I did not grow up on a lake but I figure the same principles apply to frozen water. Don’t go on it. Especially if you don’t know what you are doing and it’s a lake.
