Like Alice in Wonderland, We Have Fallen Through Time

We are now in 2022. How did this happen? Wasn’t it just March 2020? Weren’t we all going to restaurants, concerts and being carefree? Planning parties and vacations and being normal?

How did we end up in this pandemic hellhole?

The Washington Post reports that people are feeling like they are in a “memory hole” and they have been forgetting things. Lots of things.

The sameness of each day and the loss of routine has made this phenomenon even worse. Birthdays, anniversaries, and not remembering the day of the week are common. Holidays seem to come out of nowhere.

“I think I, in general, have a pretty good memory in terms of time and events and how long ago things were,” says Bendik, who lives in Los Angeles. But the days have all been the same, especially after last spring when she was laid off from her job as a social worker. Since then, “There’s nothing to mark the time, and you don’t know when the pandemic is going to end,” she says. “You feel like you’re waiting for something, but it’s never coming.”
