Letters From The Time Traveler: The Eagle
Dearest,
No matter what century I am in, I will always look for signs in nature. From where I have been (and when), nature has never let me down.
We live in a world that is consumed with materialism and consumption. Nature, on the other hand, does not care about gathering plastic things and hoarding.
They are too busy trying to survive climate change in this time.
Recently, I lost a friend. And it was my fault. And as usual, I can’t really confide in anyone. Many years ago, I met with a psychologist. I had just lost one of my good friends, on my watch, and blamed myself.
The problem is the psychologist was incredibly shrewd and figured out from the following who I actually was:
- speech
- gestures
- manners
- excellent historical memory
- using the past tense and saying things like “It wasn’t always like this, back in…”
Even though I had a modern haircut for 1965 and modern clothing, it didn’t matter. During one session, the psychologist asked me point blank if I delusionally thought I was a time traveler.
I sat back and sighed, having waited for this question for a long time. I am very good at reading…
