Letters From The Time Traveler: Many Fine Things
Dearest,
I was recently invited to attend a taping of a television show “Antiques Roadshow”. And before I explain what the show is about, all I can say is, it was a very emotional journey.
One of my neighbors here, Patricia, a widow, invited me. As I appear to be the Antiques Roadshow's target audience, she thought I would like it. And yes, I did, but it brought back so many memories.
While for the thousands of attendees, it was a feast for the senses, for me, it was a literal walk down memory lane.
I knew when I accepted Patricia’s invitation, that it might be difficult. After all, with a few exceptions, I know more than the appraisers on the show. I have been alive during all the time periods represented, with the notable exception of a medieval vase.
So we headed out on our journey. Despite the hazy wildfire smoke from the Canadian wildfires, it was a beautiful summer day. They have been dealing with drought here, and many farms are not able to produce strawberries and other produce. The pandemic still raged on, though there was what they call a media black-out and most thought it was over. The country was suffering a recession.
