Letters From The Time Traveler: 2040 Is The Target Date

Dearest,

I didn’t know how to start this letter. I do not want to come across as negative and as of my last letter, it seemed bleak.

Well, I want to explain the mental process those alive in the 2020 decade are going through.

Cognitive dissonance reigns supreme, everywhere. Even for those who are intelligent and fact-based, those alive today can’t handle what is happening right now.

We are all on some level suffering from Hiraeth, which is an old Welsh word meaning “spiritual longing”.

We all spiritually long for the “good old days”. These mythical days rule our hearts and many of us just want to go back to them.

We are just now in 2024, a strange year already to be sure. Those alive now, especially the older generations, remember the following:

• Nature in a purer form. Normal winters in the northern part of the country, hot summers but without all the wildfires and flooding.
• Bees everywhere. Wasps, insects of all kinds. It is terrifying how quickly these creatures disappeared.
