Is America Turning Into a Real-Life Handmaid’s Tale?

If you haven’t heard of The Handmaid’s Tale, it is a Hulu show, now in its 4th season:

The Handmaid’s Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was the United States. Gilead is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state and is faced with environmental disasters and a plummeting birth rate.

When I first watched the show years ago, it seemed so far-fetched. Young women forced to give birth? Their formerly modern life stripped away from them? It seemed outlandish.

I don’t think so anymore.

I have a theory. Now hear me out. It might sound out there but it’s really not if you think about it.

American population decline will cause the rich to lose their workforce.
