I Don’t Celebrate A Birthday- I Celebrate a Birth Month!
I am one of those obnoxious people who starts talking about their birthday weeks before. Although my birthday is at the end of October, I start talking about it on Oct. 1.
As a kid, I had to share my birthday month with my grandmother and cousin. I never felt I got enough attention.
These days, as I am nearing 50 years old in a few years, I do not want a lot of attention on my birthday. And forget about Facebook. I have shut off my wall for birthday greetings.
Because honestly there is nothing worse than getting 10 greetings, while a person you know who lies that they are “never on Facebook” gets 100 messages.
After a few times of this, I gave up and stopped letting people wish me anything. And I am happier for it.
Here are some of my experiences with birthday brats.
They Hint Heavily They Need a Surprise Birthday Party
A few months ago, two of my husband’s cousins had a joint surprise 50th birthday party. And it was kind of ridiculous. I think big birthdays should be reserved for the real milestone birthdays, like 60, 70, 80, and 90. I also told my son and husband I do not want a big 50th birthday party. To me, there is nothing more cringe than celebrating…
