Grad Parties Are Now As Expensive As Weddings. It Has Gotten Out of Control.
Even If a Grad Doesn’t Have a Party, Send a Card Anyway.
Iremember when I graduated college I was super broke. I did not even have a job lined up. I decided to have a party for myself (which is kind of sad) and set up a table in my small apartment with snacks.
My family drove almost 2 hours to celebrate with me and we had a really good time. All that mattered to me was that they were there to celebrate that day. Later, my grandmother had another small family party for me.
For me, getting through college was hard with dealing with my parent’s divorce and other issues. It was a big accomplishment for me.
I didn’t get tons of cash and gifts but I did get their support, which is worth a lot more. My aunt and uncle helped me move out of my apartment and to Ohio a few weeks later. That itself was a huge help.
Now 25 years later, my son has graduated. And we have a new issue cropping up…
