Gen Z Is All About FOMO, Hating on Dave Ramsey, and Buying Expensive Skincare Products
I love Gen Z, they remind me so much of Gen X. And I learned something interesting about them recently. They hate Dave Ramsey!
Hate is probably a strong word. But they do not like him. And they do not agree with him. And they also approach money much differently than other generations.
GEN Z BELIEVES SELF-CARE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN SAVING MONEY
Dave likes to give out crap advice like avoiding a daily coffee at Starbucks. But Gen Z believes self-care is more important.
“Self-care is extremely important and if that means buying a $6 coffee every day, do it,” Jarrod Benson, a 32-year-old comedian from Orlando told Business Insider over TikTok. “I’d rather be caffeinated than depressed with $6.”
Their belief in self-care is also evident in their obsession with trendy clothing and expensive skincare products. My son has expensive taste in electronics, clothing, and a lot of things. We sometimes argue about money because I don’t agree with how he always wants quality.
I was brought up more in the coupon/deal generation and don’t always buy quality. I’d rather save $3 than buy the more expensive version of an item.
