Everyone Needs a Third Place To Relax and Make New Friends
For Me, It’s My Local Library, Target and Volunteering
Every neighborhood has that neighbor who keeps to themself and stays inside, most of the time. They don’t go to neighborhood BBQs, participate in handing out candy on Halloween or help out their neighbors.
For years, people who stayed home were judged. Since 2020 more and more people have been staying home, to avoid Covid. And now, many just stay home out of habit.
In the past year, I have been getting out more and meeting new people. I am also going to start a new falconry class soon, which I am very excited about.
I have found as I get older that it is easier to meet new friends at like-minded hobby events. I’m way past the age of clubs or bar hopping.
By nature, I am not that outgoing, so it takes so effort for me to put myself out there. But once I get to know people, I am very outgoing.
Does Your Neighborhood Have That Quiet Person?
In my old neighborhood, Helen was the old lady, spying from behind the curtains, we never really saw her face. She was rarely outside. She was a scary witch, at least to me and the neighborhood kids. Helen never had visitors.
