Recently I came across another fast-food restaurant going out of business. Quaker Steak in a town over just went out of business, all of a sudden. It was the same refrain: We can’t get workers.

Then I was on Next Door (which is great fun, even better than Facebook) and this photo popped up. It is from our local Taco Bell, which is dying a slow death.

THE SLOW DEATH OF FAST FOOD

I don’t like Taco Bell, it never seemed like high-quality food to me. But my husband likes it on occasion and he noticed they were taking forever to even fulfill app orders.

And now this: They are open very, very specific hours and not at lunchtime. Which is so odd to me. This is a fairly new Taco Bell, only a few years old. And it’s already gasping its last breath.

So I started thinking: Why is this happening NOW? Back in 2019, the economy was buzzing, one of my friend’s sons went on 2 interviews just to work at Burger King and fast food/retail employers were…
