Covid Hits Home. My 40 Something Cousin Just Came Home With An Oxygen Tank

I was not sure if I wanted to write about this but here goes. Because I talk about Covid a lot here, it felt like an appropriate update.

As I’ve written previously, I have been one of the “paranoid” people for 2 years. Ever since I heard about the strange new, pneumonia-like illness hitting China, I knew something big was happening.

I’ve always been kind of a prepper and this kicked in all my prepping — buying N95, face guards, purell, Clorox wipes, and whatever else I could get.

White knuckling through 2020, my family and my extended family managed to go into 2021 unscathed. I know there are many in my extended family who probably had Covid but kept it a secret. Unlike what they think, it’s not their right to keep it a secret.

Because it’s a communicable disease, I hope those who got sick told the people they had been in contact with. But I digress.

We are now in 2021 and mid-summer, I heard from my mother-in-law that my favorite uncle-in-law, who is almost 80 and has diabetes, high blood pressure, and a host of other chronic illnesses had caught Covid.

He was hospitalized for a long time but somehow survived. But he is now not the same. I found out weeks later because the extended family…
