My Family Is Not Really On Board With a No-Gift Christmas

My family and I decided this year to not exchange gifts. And it was the easiest decision I have made in a long time.

For many reasons, it’s just not in my budget this year. Inflation, supporting my son through college, and lots of bills have taken away the regular options I would have.

I was trying to work out how I would buy for everyone and I was getting stressed out. Then it occurred to me. We didn’t have to do this at all. We are all adults and don’t need more clutter in our homes.

And this video really resonated with me:

I refuse to go into debt for Christmas presents, so I proposed to my extended family to just not give gifts at all. I’d rather play board games than sit and open presents that may (or may not) sit in my closet or be donated.

My aunt seemed to understand and then balked saying “But I already bought gifts?” Really? Before…
