900k Deaths and I’m Not Sure Americans Have Learned Anything

The US has reached a disturbing number- 900,000 deaths due to Covid. In two years’ time.

It is similar to one of these 3 cities just disappearing:

  • Austin, TX 931,830
  • Jacksonville, FL 868,031
  • San Francisco, CA 864,816

And it’s not just the disposable people or old people dying. Healthy people, people under 50, pregnant women, teachers, doctors, janitors, cashiers, everyone you could think of.

They would have still been here if it wasn’t for Covid. They would have been planning ahead for spring, living their lives, not 6 feet under. Their kids would have parents.

Our culture and country hide death. It is no longer a person who is laid out in the front parlor. Victorians also made hair jewelry and wreaths as a way to show your connection to someone who had died.

Our medical technology has advanced so much in the past 150 years. Back then, people passed away younger and from preventable illnesses. We take for granted the medical technology we now have.
