5 Kids, A Custom Built Home and Trips to Hawaii- How Can A Church Minister Afford This?
5 kids. Check. Brand new, custom-built $500k home. (As reported on realtor.com.) Check. Big Costco grocery trips to feed their huge family, $400 a week. Check. Trips to Hawaii and weekly date nights. Check. Nice clothing and a big diamond ring for the wife. Check.
Who am I describing? Not someone you would expect to be able to afford 5 kids, a custom-built home, etc. etc. Especially in this economy.
It’s my old pastor.
This is something I have noticed more and more in the church community. And this is one reason I have left the church community for the most part.
It doesn’t make sense to me.
The pastor I am speaking of I will call him T. He is a good pastor, in his 40s and a kind person BUT his level of money never made sense to me. His wife is very fit, wears the best clothing, and gets Botox and her must-have mani/pedi and hair done.
Their five kids are always well-dressed, well-mannered, well, you get the idea.
But T. and his wife are in charge of a church in my small town, a town with no money. A town with no community center, no city pool, and no town center. A former farming town, the residents here make $25,000-$50,000/on average a year.
