25+ Items My Rich Aunt Says That Poor People Need To Stop Buying

As I have written previously, I am stuck between two huge income levels. On one hand, my in-laws are regular, middle-class earners. However, on my side, my family has money. And some of them are more obvious and more judgemental than others.

It gets annoying. For example, my Aunt Kelly is the perfect example of someone who acts like they are helping with their advice. But it’s just judgment in disguise.

We were at a family function recently and Aunt Kelly overhead me discussing inflation and expenses with another family member. Normally, she would hold back her opinion but this time she butt in.

“People need to stop getting their daily Starbucks drink,” she started out with the tired stereotype.

“Why can’t poorer people enjoy something like that? Do they need to only drink water and eat beans everyday?” I asked, trying to contain my annoyance.

“No, I don’t mean it like that, but I get tired of hearing people complain they can’t afford groceries,” she replied sipping her champagne.

At this, I just stared at her. She really is clueless about the rest of the world.

“So what kind of things would you cut?” I asked.

We live on the $13.65 an hour that my wife makes at a retail hardware store. And we live in a mostly rural area. With a low cost of living, we actually follow most of these things - and more! We've done this for years, so it's nothing new. We should…
